Default I Finally Decided To Get A GB Legion Hardcover Refund

This Monday, January 28, marks the three year anniversary since I placed the pre-order for the Legion hardcover through Graham Cracker Comics.

I gave Sebastian enough time to publish the book, but it's obvious he scammed us all. I've been very patient, but I've reached my limit. So I have finally decided to ask John Robinson of Graham Cracker Comics for a refund, and thus close my active order.

I'm not asking for the refund because I urgently need the money back (though obviously I *DO* want it back since the book is AWOL). I'm asking for it because I don't like to leave unfinished business open for very long, and three years is WAY too long. It's about time I closed this matter and put it to rest.

If the book is ever published, and John definitely has copies in his possession, by all means I want him to put one aside for me and let me know so I can reorder it. However, I will only do so when I know for a fact that he has the copies in stock. No more of this pre-order nonsense - at least not as far as anything from Sebastien Clavet or his company 88MPH Studios is concerned.

However, I don't put much faith in the book ever being published as just last week Sebastien started offering four individual lithographs for sale (one of each Ghostbuster) on his website. Granted, he started soliciting the Venkman litho back in October, but the other three are new. Obviously he still doesn't care to publish the book he promised to publish THREE YEARS AGO. I guess he'd rather waste money on other stuff than on what he actually TOOK PEOPLE'S MONEY FOR.

I will still continue to update the Legion Hardcover News Archive page from time to time to keep other folks abreast of the latest. I won't bother making notations of the future anniversaries of my pre-order date since the order is no longer active.

Since the Legion hardcover isn't going to be published, and if you never bought the original four individual issues, you can now download all four issues (regular covers) and read the entire Legion story on your computer. Someone actually scanned in every page of all four issues and compiled them into nice, neat files - then zipped them up into one 67 Megabyte file. Inside this one RAR file are four files (one for each issue). The first three have the extension CBR, and the last one has the extension CBZ. You have two options on what you can do with these four files.

1. Extract them as is and use this program to view them. Since this program is only for Windows, and I do not know if there are ones for Macintosh and Linux, you might have to resort option #2 if you use a non-Windows system.

2. Extract them from the RAR into a folder on your hard drive. No go to that folder and rename each file, just changing the CBR to RAR and the CBZ to ZIP. Now you can open up each newly renamed RAR and ZIP file using your favorite archive utility (whatever you used to open the original RAR should work). Inside each one you will find the JPG image files, which you can extract to your hard drive and view with your favorite image viewer.

I'm not sure it's fair to say "he scammed us". That suggests a deliberate desire to maliciously con people out of their money. Considering that more merchandise is on sale, and I believe being shipped, I think it's more likely the man has had financial problems and is working to get the book published. I'm not saying it WILL get published, and am certainly not criticising you for getting a refund, but I do disagree about the use of the word scam.

I'm really not sure how people can say that definitely. If I'm wrong, correct me, but, aren't other products still shipping? It strikes me that a scam artist would have done a bunk by now. If someone scams someone it was a deliberate effort to con people, are you suggesting this was the case? Otherwise if it wasn't deliberate, no matter how suspicious it may look, it wasn't a scam.

I suppose this attitude, such utter and consistent oblivion, can in a way be admired.

So, more power to ya.

What, exactly, was unnecessary?

Alright, allow me to spell this out for you, kiddies...

Three years. That's how long it's been. Seb has taken thousands of dollars and vanished.

Just because something didn't start out as a scam doesn't mean it can't evolve into one. That's CLEARLY the case here...the guy's gotten in over his head, and he's tucked himself snugly under the covers, hoping for it to all just go away. He's stopped replying to emails, as emails were a reminder. He's taken down the message board, as the message board was a reminder. Occasionally he'll drop an excuse, but it's always entirely without merit; "it'll be out next month" only works for so long.....after 36 months, the rhetoric has worn thin.

Everyone with the brass balls to deny this whole charade, send me $300. I promise to send you something really nice sometime this year.

Or maybe not. Maybe it'll be in two years.

Or three.

Or not at all.

The lies, the deception, the excuses without validation, these are scams. A "scam" is a fraudulent claim; this whole ordeal has been full of them. I don't know how to make it any more obvious.

Ya'll don't look like some sort of defender of the downtrodden here; you look like a Don Quixote character, playing the fool more than the hero. People can't get refunds, people can't get in touch to learn why this criminal has taken their money and slammed the door in their faces.

If I had more time on my hands, I'd be sending Seb so much litigation it'd clog his airway. Here's hoping someone DOES have the time, and takes action soon.

No, I'm really not in oblivion. Don't get me wrong, whilst I used to be camped in the "believe in him and he'll deliver" side, I really am not any more. I'm quite prepared to accept that the damn thing won't come out, and quite possibly, a good few people will be out of pocket.

I'm really not trying to defend the guy, I'm just voicing my own personal opinion that as idiotic as his financial handling may have been, I don't think it was deliberate, which in my view represents a scam artist. He's just failing to deliver goods because he financially can't. Criminal yes, no doubt. And I'm quite sure if someone could succedsfully take him to court, they'd win. I'm certainly not trying to appear a hero of the down trodden, perhaps once I was, but at the moment I;m just trying to prevent the topic descending into nothing but claims of Seb being a scam artists.

I suppose my way of looking at it is this, the difference between Seb and a Scam Artist is that between an individual who commits manslaughter and one who commits Murder. Both equally criminal acts, but no doubt one is more evil than the other.

Ah......well, in that case, I rescind my fiery commentary.

That post was much clearer re: your perspective, and I can appreciate it. I suppose past disputes clouded my vision, and for that I must apologize.
