Default Ghostbusters @ Austin Film Festival: Harold Ramis Attending!

Attention Ghostbusters in the vicinity of Austin, Texas!

The Austin Film Festival is pleased to present not one but THREE Ghostbusters-related events.

>> The main attraction is the original "Ghostbusters" on the big screen at the historic Paramount Theater on Saturday, October 22nd at 7 p.m. In attendance will be actor/writer Harold Ramis and actor Ernie Hudson, who will both be answering questions after the film!

>> On Friday night October 21st (also at the Paramount) the AFF is proud to present an advance screening of "Ice Harvest," Harold Ramis' newest film starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton. Ramis will hold a Q&A afterwards.

>> "Halfway Decent" starring Ernie Hudson

Saturday, October 22 > 10:30 PM
Stephen F. Austin Theater (Hudson and writer/director Alan Berger in attendance)

Tuesday, October 25 > 7:00 PM
Regal Arbor Theater

Film description: Detective Tom Black's wife presents him with an ultimatum. She wants another child, but Tom thinks one is enough, especially since that one is in rehab. Inevitably, Tom finds himself out of the house and moving back in with his mother. His life goes into a tailspin as his biggest challenge soon becomes waking up in the morning. He juggles alimony and rehab payments while his job goes south, courtesy of his corrupt partner, yet somehow he manages to find a measure of humor and redemption in what is left of his mixed-up life. A strong comic story about one man losing control of everything on his way to find the key to his front door.

Other events you might enjoy include:

>> Harold Ramis will be doing panels at the conference including the comedy writing for film panel and an up close panel moderated by Judd Apatow.

>> Second City "Shortcuts" are short films created by Second City members. The program also includes classic clips from SCTV starring Harold Ramis, John Candy, and Rick Moranis.

>> "Stomp! Shout! Scream!", a new beach party monster movie from Jay Edwards of Aqua Teen Hunger Force

>> Judd Apatow retrospective

>> World premiere of "Bloodrayne"

Thanks to Chris from the Austin Film Festival for the heads up.

I should point out that if you want to get into the events before regular ticket holders and you're interested in some of the other events, the best value for the money really is the film pass. At $35, it gets you into all the film screenings (over 100 movies including shorts) during the festival's week-long run.

The lineup gets better. I'm seething with envy! The city of Brotherly Love can't measure up (yet).
